The Importance Of School Safety

The school is a place where students should feel safe and welcomed. Parents are trusting that the schools will take care of their kids while there. A school is an environment where kids should be able to learn and have fun without having to worry about getting injured. In fact, most kids feel as if they are invincible and that nothing could possibly happen to them.

Even if violence isn’t happening to your child, it doesn’t mean he or she isn’t witnessing violence happening to other students. No one wants to get involved with problem other students are happening, but sitting back and not doing anything about it is only going to make things worse.

Safety in schools is a huge interest that the federal government is trying to crack down on. School boards are meeting with other teachers and parents to listen to all the concerns and problems parents are having and finding a way to deal with the problem head on.

The school is an environment where students should feel safe. They should be more concerned about passing their big math test instead of whether or not they’ll make it through the day without getting hurt or made fun of. School safety is important and the school should be doing what they can to protect students from any violence or bullying.

Parents should also be getting involved since their kids are the ones being bullied or experience violence or they’re the ones harming the other students. Parents should talk to their kids about violence and bullying and why it’s wrong. Both parents and teachers should be stepping in and informing the kids that violence and bullying will never be the answer and it needs to stop… immediately.

Zero tolerance was implemented for a reason and teachers and schools need to be stricter about following through when students violate this policy. But now there are online college degrees sites are available which provides flexibility for parents and children to stay away from college/school related concerns

Almost 70 percent of rape victims who are female said either the man they are dating, an acquaintance, or even a friend raped them. There are safety tips woman can follow when they begin dating someone new.

If you’re going on a date with someone for the first time, especially if you don’t actually know the man, let your friends know where you will be for your date. Many women will call their friends in the middle of the date to check in. This can ensure that nothing is going wrong. Violence prevention for young kids is an important job, which needs more of an effort from parents, teachers and the kids themselves. Violence among young kids is becoming a huge problem, according to many reports. In fact, more than 630,000 students between 10 and 24 were in the emergency room being treated for injuries that were violent-related in 2007.

Youth violence can be in several different forms. It can range from rape, murder, assault, pushing, smacking, punching and bullying. Not taking care of this horrible situation can create many problems more severe than this later down the road.

Identifying the risk factors in violence among young children is fairly complicated to figure out.  Between peer pressure, drugs, alcohol and family problems, there’s a lot of things that could factor in teen violence.

Schools are being too lenient, event ignoring, some of the bullying that’s going on in schools today. There are times where a lot of violence happens outside of school as well. There’s violence in the cafeteria, during recess, on the playground and even on the school bus. This is why it’s crucial that schools get professional training on violence prevention. This is something that can’t be ignored and has to be taken care of.

Teens these days are feeling like the teachers are ignoring the situation, which in the end could make things worse.

Sometimes violence begins in the household. Many kids blame their parents for not controlling them the way they should be. The parents need to take responsibility and discipline their kids when they act up. Violence should never be ignored.

Violence in schools is getting out of hand, making it difficult for many people to want to keep going to school. There have been lots of reports in the news of kids committing suicide because of teen bullying. All these acts could have been prevented had the school done something. Now is the time for schools to get some training and learn about ways to prevent violence. If it has already begun than the school needs to learn about ways they could fix the problem.

Ideas For Violence Prevention In School

Posted on 8th February 2011 by admin in Violence Prevention - Tags: ,

School bullying and violence is quickly becoming a huge, horrible problem going on in the lives of teenagers. Violence is causing a huge threat to the students as well as the teachers. This is why violence prevention in school and the community is really important.

Preventing violence in school will vary based on the rules the school has and how serious the violence is in the school. The school’s budget and the teacher’s support and cooperation will also factor in the school’s ability to prevent violence in school.

One thing schools can do in hopes of preventing violence is to add some more after school programs, sports or anything that will get the students more involved. Schools could also get stricter with the attendance policies.

While many people think schools should just start punishing students and things will get better. This isn’t the case. According to reports, federal law actually limits the amount of discipline done in schools. The federal law does this to avoid schools from spending too much money and abusing the power of authority against the students. They also state in their law that schools must abide by the policy of a zero-tolerance for violence in schools.

Another idea would be to change the environment the students are in. Because of budget cuts a lot of schools have to downsize, which increases the amount of students in a classroom dramatically. Schools are now brining in metal detectors and security cameras at all of the entryways at the school to provide additional security.

Schools could offer a class in violence prevention where teachers and counselors can do special workshops with the students on violence and how to prevent and stop it.

School violence is getting worse for many students by the day. Schools need to find ways of preventing and stopping the violence going on. It might cost the school some money with finding ways to prevent the violence, but it’s an important matter that needs to be taken care of. Teachers need to stop ignoring the situation and start doing something.

Improving Violence Prevention Programs In Schools

Posted on 3rd February 2011 by admin in Violence Prevention - Tags: ,

We always hear on the news and see it in the newspaper just how bad violence is in the schools. What we’re also always hearing about is the fact that teachers aren’t doing much. In fact, many students have said that teachers blame those who are being bullying because they must be doing something wrong. This isn’t true. The violence happening in schools today need to be stopped.

According to reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 38 percent of public schools located in the United States has experienced at least one violent incident that results to a police investigation or involvement in 2005 and 2006. This number is expected to go up when reports of the past couple of years are released.

The violence going on in schools has to do with the fact that schools aren’t doing any type of violence prevention program. While these programs do exist, most of them don’t go over very well if at all. If schools tried hard enough the battle against the violence in schools could be successful. It’s important for the school to come up with a program that will fit the needs of what they’re looking to accomplish.

Once you’ve implemented the program keep track of its progress. Try to do a yearly evaluation to see if the violence prevention program is really working. The administrator in charge of the violence prevention program should be the one doing the evaluation.

This will be your chance that the program is actually meeting what the schools need. To accomplish this, do what many writers do to get their story, go directly to the source. Talk to other facility members, teachers and students to get their viewpoints on how well the violence prevention program is working. They might see things that you’re not seeing.

Stand by the zero tolerance policy that schools are required to have. Make sure those who violate this rule be punished accordingly. Schools should no longer turn a blind eye to violence.

Adding Violence Prevention Programs At Work

Posted on 1st February 2011 by admin in Violence Prevention - Tags: ,

Many people feel safe going to work. No one ever expects that they can be hard while in the workplace. The sad news is that violence at work is something that occurs in many different ways. Violence at work can be anything from verbal and physical abuse to making threats, assault someone and homicide. It’s required that employers will have to take charge and teach their employees about the issues of violence and how to eliminate the risk of violence through prevention.

It’s never easy being able to predict any possibility of violence. Even if the risk is high, employers can’t really predict if or when it’ll happen. According to reports employers will have to have some sort of violence prevention program where workers can learn about violence and how to lower the risk of violence from happening in the workplace.

More than two million workers in the United States have become victims to violence crimes while at work each and every year. Those working in the law and correctional facilities are going to be surrounded by violence so they’re a higher risk of experiencing it while at work. Even those who work with money, such as tellers, cab drivers and clerks, are going to be at high risk as well. If you work late hours and in a bad area, you too are at risk.

A company should start by creating a policy and use it. Just like schools, there needs to be a no tolerance policy against violence. This is something that should be in the manual you get when you first start working for the company. To have the prevention policy be successful there are certain things that need to be included in it. Employees need to learn how to spot any problems happening at work, being able to spot a situation that could turn bad and how to mediate any coworkers who are in the middle of a conflict.

Many reports state that it’s recommend to have security cameras in the office building, an alarm system and specific policies that employees need to abide by.
