Understanding Prescription Medication

When you are seriously ill or have a condition that requires consistent maintenance month after month, it is common to take prescription medication as part of your treatment. Medication isn’t just for when you are sick; it can also help ease the symptoms of permanent conditions such as nerve damage. Many emotional and hormonal conditions such as depression also have medications associated with them. If you have a condition that is uncomfortable or painful for you, more than likely there is a medication that can relieve your pain and help make life more comfortable.

Prescription medication must be prescribed by your doctor; it cannot be bought “over the counter” at a store, as prescription drugs are often stronger and more likely to be misused than over the counter drugs. Instead, you must take your prescription to a pharmacist, who will fill the order for you–quite literally, in the case of pills, filling a bottle with the exact number of pills that your prescription lists. Prescription medication can also be in liquid form to be taken orally or by injection (as in the case of insulin for diabetics) or, in rarer cases, powdered to mix into drinks or dissolve onto the tongue, as is often the case with elderly patients.

Because they are stronger and more specific to your condition than over the counter drugs, prescription medications take some extra precautions. To use your prescription medication safely, always tell your doctor and pharmacist about any other drugs you may be taking, even over the counter ones. Mixing some kinds of prescription drugs can cause dangerous side effects; your pharmacist will tell you if any of yours are dangerous to take in tandem. Always read all instructions given by your doctor about how much and how often to take your prescription medication, and never take prescription drugs that were not prescribed specifically to you.

Stranger Awareness & Protecting Yourself

Everyone wants to protect themselves from becoming a victim. It’s important to think about what to do in situations that may arise to see if you’re as cautious and aware as you should be in order to guard against those that may be out to hurt you.

One common mistake made is that people are far too trusting of strangers. This is especially true if the person is clean cut and nice looking. Unfortunately, there are mug shots taken of criminals all the time that look like every day ordinary people. Most often the criminals don’t look scary or questionable at all. Like the old saying goes, you can’t really judge a book by its cover. This is an especially true here.

Be more cautious and aware when you come in contact with someone you don’t know. If a stranger knocks on your front door and you open it up, it can provide them easy access inside your home which is a fairly soundproof and secluded place where they can rob or attack you. If you don’t already have a peep hole in your front door, get one put in. Don’t give an attacker the chance to get in. Keep your doors locked when not in use and positively identify anyone before you open your door to them. You may come across as being paranoid, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Also, be more alert when in a parking lot. At night many grocery stores offer escorts to take you to your car and you should use this service when available. Far too many women have been raped or taken from parking lot areas. Be aware of your surroundings and keep your head up and look around in all different directions. Don’t walk with you head down while you search through you purse. Also, always check the back seat of your car before you get in. There are many hiding places for attackers both inside and outside of your car.

Having more awareness and precaution when dealing with strangers will help you better protect you from becoming a victim.

Before Hawaiians get violent over a home improvement project, they should go to Home Depot. Home Depot is a giant in the home renovation industry, catering to those individuals with a do-it-yourself attitude. The retail store sells everything from laminate flooring to appliances and from decorative sconces to barbecue grills. While many people tend to view the store as a haven for men, women will find a variety of home decorating items from feminine shades of paint to decorative accessories designed to match different styles. While Home Depot operates over 2,000 stores, there are some people who do not have immediate access to the store. That’s one of the reasons why Home Depot decided to create an online presence. The other is that some people just prefer the ease of shopping from the comfort of their home rather than having to walk the aisles of the store.

With the Home Depot website, it’s possible for you to find exactly the item you’re looking for with the click of a few buttons on your computer. The website organizes the items by categories, such as appliances, bath, décor, or plumbing. In each category, you’ll see subcategories to help you find things even faster. Within the subcategory, you’ll find a list of items and the prices for each one.

Item listings often provide you with more information about a certain product than you can get in the store. Look at user reviews, read manufacturer specifications, find out how much the shipping will cost, and learn more about the products at the website. You can even see whether your closest store has the item in stock in case you decide to go and pick it up. As an added bonus, you might find Home Depot coupon codes to help save money on your purchases. The type of promotion may vary, but some examples include getting 20 to 30 percent off the purchase of area rugs or getting 50 percent off lighting.

Being A Smarter & Safer Traveler

It’s so exciting to pack your bags and get away from normal life for awhile! However, there are many safety issues to consider when you are travelling. You need to be smart and take some precautions so that you can be safer during your trip especially if you happen to be travelling alone.

As far as your luggage is concerned, there are a few things you can do to protect yourself. First of all, put a lock on all your suitcases. Also, if you have had fun shopping while on your vacation and have bought a lot of items to take home with you, you might want to secure your bag with some strong tape as well. Make sure to stay close to your valuables as you go through airport security and keep your carry-on bag safe in public areas of the airport by putting your foot through the strap when it is on the floor.

Also, if you are flying overnight, make sure to keep an eye on your belongings at all times. Put you valuables in something you can wear while sleeping, like a waist pack instead of putting it in a stowed carry on bag. Also, if you have to go to the bathroom, don’t leave your purse, backpack, or any valuables behind take them with you (unless you have a trusted partner or friend that will be there to watch them).

Another smart travel tips to think about is tearing the name and address labels off of any magazines you take with you to read, in case you happen to leave one behind somewhere. That way you won’t be announcing to everyone and anyone that you are away from home right now.

In regards to your destination, one tip is that you can talk to the flight attendants or other passengers or about their thoughts on the safety of the place you are going to and whether they have been there or have any concerns to share. It gives you a good idea of what to expect when you get off the plane.

Make It More Difficult For Someone To Steal Your Car

You can’t really stop a professional car thief from trying to steal your vehicle, but you can slow them down or make it more difficult for them. If it takes too long to steal, the better chance you have that it won’t be stolen. They will look somewhere else for any easier target. So, don’t make it easy for them!

There are over 1.2 million cars stolen ever year in the U.S. alone. When it comes to keeping your car protected, there are certain things that you can do and specific precautions you can take to make it harder for a thief to be able to take off with your vehicle, leaving you in the dust.

The first tip is that you should have an alarm system installed in your car. If you already have this in your vehicle, you are one step ahead. Also, using an additional security device (such as a gear shift column lock or steering wheel lock) can be beneficial. When parking your car, try to find a spot that is well lit at night and visible to others. If you are able to park your car in a garage, that’s even better but don’t forget to lock the garage door so that people can’t enter.

Also, don’t keep your vehicle registration car in the glove compartment, put it in your wallet or purse instead. That way the thief can’t use it if they are pulled over by police for identification. One more good tip is to put your VIN (vehicle identification number) under your engine or trunk lid as well so that it can be found on different parts of your car.

Another way criminals steal cars is through carjacking. To decrease the danger of having your car carjacked you need to be aware of certain techniques that are used such as bumping into you and then robbing you or attacking you at isolated places like cash machines and pay phones to take your car. That way you can be smart and not put yourself into a situation where you become the next victim.
